Welcome to ZIXPlayer. I value your privacy and I am committed to being transparent about how I handle your data. ZIXPlayer is a mobile application designed for local media playback.

Information I Collect

ZIXPlayer is built with a "Privacy First" approach. I do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal identification information (PII) from my users.

  • Local Media Files: The app accesses audio and video files stored on your device solely for organization and playback. This data is handled locally and is NEVER uploaded or transmitted to any external server.
  • Usage Data: I do not track how you use the app, what you play, or how long you use it.

Required Permissions & Foreground Services

To function correctly and provide a seamless experience, ZIXPlayer requires the following:

  • Storage Access: To scan, display, and play your local music and video files.
  • Foreground Service (Media Playback): ZIXPlayer utilizes the Media Playback foreground service to allow users to continue listening to music and playing videos seamlessly when the app is minimized, screen-locked, or when interacting with the app's Home Screen Widget and Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode. It provides ongoing playback controls via a notification.
  • Foreground Service (Data Sync): ZIXPlayer utilizes the Data Sync foreground service to perform audio extraction (Media Transcoding) from large video files locally on the device. Because this can take a long time, this service ensures the Android OS does not kill the background conversion process while displaying an active progress notification.
  • Notification Access: To show media controls and conversion progress in your notification shade (Android 13+).

Third-Party Services

I do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Any libraries used (such as ExoPlayer or LibVLC) are strictly for technical performance and core playback features.

Data Security

Since I do not collect any personal data, there is no risk of your personal data being compromised. Your media remains entirely under your control on your device.

Children's Privacy

My app does not address anyone under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

I may update my Privacy Policy from time to time. I recommend checking this document periodically for any changes.
